Oh clutch my pearls. Rep Johnson, this nation was built on political violence. Get a grip on reality. Begin by reading, The Barbarous Years: The Peopling of British North America--The Conflict of Civilizations, 1600-1675. And Governor, bonespurs trump is anything but 'tough'. He "suffered" a scratch. Former President Theodore was shot in the chest, then calmed the crowd that likely would have lynched the attempted assassin, and continued giving his campaign speech. Roosevelt began in part, "Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible. I don't know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot—but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose."

George, sir, unfortunately you likely are correct. Yet, it's been a long time in coming from the apparent systemic lapses of the Secret Service. Consider referring to, Zero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret Service. Another assassination attempt was merely a matter of time, and unfortunately, not a matter of good preventive intelligence and policing.

It wasn't just shots fired. It was an assassination attempt. Also, an honorable man was shot and killed because he shielded his daughter from being shot. Please don't diminish his sacrifice by saying that shots were fired
