Sioux Falls, region eye another Missouri River water source
South Dakota communities rallying support for Dakota Mainstem initiative
Despite having an estimated four decades of water supply available, officials in Sioux Falls are already planning for what’s next.
The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution supporting the Dakota Mainstem Regional Water System, a conceptualized water distribution system that would pump Missouri River water to cities, rural water districts, and tribes across South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
