Wilma M. Thompson, age 97, of Madison, SD, passed away Saturday, Mar. 29, 2025, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday April 16th, 2025 at the Ellsworth Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Madison.
Wilma M. Pooley was born in Miner County in South Dakota, on May 30th, 1927, to Roy and Vida (Nicodemus) Pooley. She was the youngest of nine children, (four sisters and four brothers). She was educated in a rural school and went to high school at Argonne Consolidated School in Argonne, SD. She married Rexford Killion of Madison, SD. On February 21st, 1946. They had three sons. Darrel Killion of Madison, SD. Carl Killion of Kranzbug SD, and Perry Killon of Madison, SD. We traveled to Arizona each year for three months for several winters. Rex passed away on December 26th, 1989.
She wintered in Arizona for several years where she met Marvin Thompson of Waseca, MN. They were married on July 17th, 1993, and lived in a country home in the summer and Arizona in the winter for 13 years where she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Marvin passed away on December 6th, 2005. She moved back to Madison on June 1, 2006, and became a member of the St Peter Lutheran Church of Orland. After returning to Madison, she spent many hours of volunteer work with Interlake’s Community Action, and the Encore Family Thrift Store.
My husbands, my parents, four brothers and four sisters and one granddaughter preceded my in death.
Immediate family still living are my three sons, Darrel and his wife Trish; Carl and his wife Kathy, and Perry and his wife Fawn. There are 10 Grandchildren, 20 Great- Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.
