Will more money for pothole repairs help City Hall fix cratered streets faster?
City Councilors proposed adding $500,000 to Sioux Falls streets budget
Winter’s pounding on Sioux Falls streets is undeniable.
From quiet residential neighborhood roads to major thoroughfares like Minnesota Avenue and 41st Street, thousands of potholes around Sioux Falls are wreaking havoc on vehicles and prompting complaints from the public.
That’s why a pair of Sioux Falls City Councilors this week are formally proposing supplementing the Public Works’ street division budget by $500,000 in hopes of expediting pothole repairs.
“You don’t have to drive very far to see the pothole issue we have,” Councilor Curt Soehl said during a meeting at Carnegie Town Hall. “We’ve seen an extreme amount of snow, which translates into an extreme amount of potholes.”
