Wanted: Mentors in core Sioux Falls schools
Pandemic, change in downtown workforce changed mentoring pool for students
When Valerie Loudenback got the call that there was a need for mentors, she answered it.
The Sioux Falls woman had already done a stint of mentoring at Anne Sullivan Elementary several years earlier. But this time she decided to mentor a student at Laura B. Anderson Elementary, located in the same neighborhood as the Grand Prairie Foods company that she and her husband, Kurt, have owned since 2003.
“We have a number of families who have kids there,” she said. “You can always find that half an hour in your week.”
