I totally agree with the freedom caucus on this. Private investors should not be able to profit off a project that interferes with a landowners right nor should they be able to put the landowners and their families at risk from a deadly gas leak. All these 'pro -pipeline commercials' are paid for by companies that hope to increase their profits. They are mis-leading at best.
My question is why the freedom caucus is so willing to fight for individual landowner rights but not personal rights. Many of the same legislators are leading the push to take away women's rights to body autonomy and reproductive decisions. Either you support citizens' rights to make their own decisions and keep government from forcing a decision on them or you don't.
This article is really well done. Thank you. I hope our legislators will take these expressions of what it takes to be a good neighbor to heart. It is all too common for power, money, and "economic development" to be used to justify forcing others to sacrifice by mislabeling such private capitalistic enterprises as "public good" or "public use", etc.. The devil can quote scriptures. It amazes me as to how far power, money, and so called "economic development" will cause people to rationalize, stretch their otherwise good South Dakota values, and even abandon their neighbors. Don't succumb legislators. Whatever you choose to do and whatever you enact, make sure it puts your "neighbors" first.
asphyxiant is a good technical term but “suffocating gas” might be easier to understand and help people visualize an invisible mass of carbon dioxide gas flowing downhill through ditches and valleys, just like water does. Except if you encounter a deep enough stream of CO2, it will kill both you and the engine on your vehicle.
These days, it seems anyone who's paying attention should know THE GREEN NEW DEAL is a SCAM. Those libs used to call it GLOBAL WARMING, but then the earth got cooler for a time, so they had to settle on 'CLIMATE CHANGE'. It's absolutely comical, when you really stop to think about it. Two things you can count on to be true... #1 the climate on earth... IT'S ALWAYS CHANGING. #2 Deep state needs a NEW GREEN [MONEY] DEAL, when the dollar collapses. Ponzi scheme is nearing it's end. That's why they keep raising the debt limit, so we can pay more money to the money changers.
Having an out of state lobbyist write about out of state forces is crazy to me. Just letting people write whatever lol but yes eminent domain is always bad

Thank you!
Felt the same about Keystone, good article even if came from an out of state interest.
There's Freedom Caucus chapter in South Dakota, I think that's where this came from: https://sdfreedomcaucus.com/
Agree with them completely, somehow pipeline companies get carte blanche, and the rest of us pick up the tab.
