VIEWPOINT | It’s time for a bold new approach to fix property taxes

The 2025 legislative session considered many bills to lower property taxes. In the end, only one survived, and Gov. Larry Rhoden admitted it was mostly to “…slow down any future tax increases.”
The governor and legislative leaders understand that only some combination of new revenue and spending cuts will reduce property taxes, and so they created a task force to dig deeper for solutions.
