VIEWPOINT | A smarter way to license lawyers, serve the public good

Lawyers committed to public service are critical to keeping South Dakotans safe, productive, and free. Public sector lawyers serve in many roles across South Dakota every day.
Judges in federal, state, and tribal courts resolve cases affecting the lives, property, and freedom of South Dakotans every day. State’s attorneys and public defenders make sure that the careful balance of preserving individual liberties and bringing just prosecutions is preserved. Lawyers in agencies at all levels of government help South Dakotans do business effectively and fairly. This work is being done by public sector lawyers in South Dakota’s largest city to our smallest towns.
It is important for all of us.
