Deaths by suicide reached a record high in South Dakota’s largest county last year, and the Sioux Falls metro area is already outpacing that mark again this year.
This grim reality was outlined this week by Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum, who, along with Mayor Paul TenHaken, Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead, and State’s Attorney Daniel Haggar, unveiled the city’s 2023 year-end crime report.
