STURGIS — The sun casts a golden hue over downtown Sturgis as Jonathan Brock and his brushes and paints await another day of history — and commerce.
With each motorcycle, chopper, helmet, or any other tangible object that shows up in the driveway that doubles as the Colorado native’s pinstriping paint shop is an opportunity to make a living, but also preserve a piece of vintage motorcycle culture.
Brock is among more than 700 vendors licensed to operate during the 84th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the city of Sturgis alone, helping generate hundreds of millions in economic activity across the Black Hills and the Interstate 90 corridor.
