A good and dedicated public servant

Just makes me wonder.. why he even ran for office. Something must have happened.

Why would he run? He said he was retiring from the Senate to be with family but jumped into the House race at the last minute. Something tells me that this may have been the plan all along.

Senator Otten is a good man. I worked with him as a state employee when he was chairing the House Agriculture Committee, and I worked with him as a colleague when we were both Senators. He treated me with the same respect in both roles and he worked hard to make S.D. a better place. I will miss serving with him.

Holy Kolace Let the record show that Frank and Lee agree. However, when I visited with Hernan last winter he gave me a strong indication he was not running. Sadly, this reminds us of Dusty Johnson quiting the PUC just after being elected, to be the Governors Chief of Staff and then resigning from that position when the Gear UP Tragedy was about to break. Legislator Otten certainly does not want to get the reputation of being a quitter.

He said he was retiring from the Senate to be with family. Then did an about face and turned in petitions on the last day for the House race. Something is fishy here, this was probably the plan all along.

Voting record wasn’t great, but at least voted against SB 201.

He voted against SB201 to save face with voters because he knew it was going to pass. He is all for the pipeline.

He was told to get into the House Race to get elected,, only to resign, this now allows the House to appoint someone for his term...scary, this is what established actors do.
