State House, Senate announce new legislative committee assignments
Incoming leadership appoints members in part based on preferences
Leadership from each chamber of the South Dakota State Legislature has made committee appointments for the next two legislative sessions.
The nonpartisan Legislative Research Council (LRC) published the new appointments from House and Senate leadership Monday evening. Senate President Pro Tempore-elect Chris Karr and House Speaker-elect Jon Hansen officially made the appointments.
In addition to the committees that meet regularly through the duration of the legislative session, that will include those the appointments include those that meet in the interim as well - such as rules review and state-tribal relations.
All committee assignments are subject to change throughout the duration of the next two years. Full assignments are listed below.
