Deputy GOED commissioner chosen to head state's international trade arm
A top official in the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is leaving state government to lead the state’s top international trade advocacy organization.
Jesse Fonkert has been named the next president and CEO of South Dakota Trade, the organization’s board of directors announced Monday.
Fonkert is the deputy commissioner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and will step into his new gig on April 21. He is succeeding Luke Lindberg, who is leaving the post following his nomination by President Donald Trump to serve as under secretary of Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
