South Dakota Symphony Orchestra receives historic gift
$2M donation largest in organization's history
The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra has received its largest gift ever.
The organization announced Tuesday it’s the recipient of a $2 million donation from Rosemarie and Dean Buntrock.
The gift will support concerts for the Lakota Music Project and a production of Giants in the Earth, a Pulitzer Prize winning opera.
Buntrock, originally from Columbia, South Dakota, is a lifetime trustee of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and was inspired to donate after reading about the South Dakota Symphony in an article in The New Yorker, according to a news release.
