South Dakota regents want another tuition freeze, counter to Noem budget
Supporters say freeze would help with skyrocketing inflation
South Dakota public colleges and technical education schools could see a third consecutive year of tuition freezes.
The Board of Regents will push to keep tuition rates static at the eight public universities it governs, despite Gov. Kristi Noem opting not to put the $8.5 million funding request in her proposed budget.
And lawmakers who also want to freeze the cost of post-secondary education for students and families in South Dakota will look for another $2.5 million to hold the line on tuition at tech-ed schools across the state as well.
