South Dakota hip-hop artist in national spotlight for hit single
Night Shield in running for fourth Native American Music award
A Sioux Falls-based rapper and hip-hop artist has been nominated for Best Rap Recording in the 21st Annual Native American Music Awards.
Gabriel Night Shield of Sioux Falls and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe is earning national distinction following the October release of his hit single and music video for “How We Livin.’”
Night Shield, a three-time Native American Music Award winner, collaborated on the Best Rap Recording-nominated single with previously nominated artists Crimespree and Maniac the SiouxperNatural and Native American Award-winning artist Brandis B. Knudsen (Single of the Year, “Come and Get Your Love”), according to a news release.
An enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Night Shield has performed with Jelly Roll, Tech N9ne, MGK, Bone Thugs, and Snow Tha Product.
Night Shield is currently recording his ninth album, “Handsome Ass Devil,” slated for release in March 2025.
