Party officials champion unity following Joe Biden's departure from 2024 election presidential election
South Dakota Democrats are backing Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
All 20 of the South Dakota Democratic Party’s delegates heading to the Democratic National Convention later this summer pledged their support to the California lawyer during an impromptu meeting Monday following the abrupt departure of President Joe Biden from the race a day earlier.
The state party voted unanimously during the emergency meeting — held remotely — to support the vice president and favorite to win the Democratic nomination. Harris earned the endorsement of Biden opted not to pursue a second term and instead endorse his second in command.
