Sioux Falls’ Unity Bridge moving ahead despite council frustrations
City councilors say they didn’t have the votes to stop the over-budget project
Work on a bridge project in downtown Sioux Falls that will cost taxpayers double what had been budgeted begins Monday.
The first phase of construction on what’s being billed as the Unity Bridge marks finality in a weeks-long saga that had city councilors accusing Mayor Paul TenHaken’s administration of misleading them about the process in which they selected the project contractor.
