Sioux Falls to part ways with historic Brockhouse museum animals, sending to Notre Dame
Longtime residents angered by decision to give up city legacy
The historic Brockhouse Collection is leaving its home and heading east.
The Sioux Falls City Council voted Tuesday to send the more than 150 museum animals that have entertained and educated generations of Sioux Falls residents to three non-profit organizations that specialize in natural history pieces. The bulk of the collection will go to the University of Notre Dame’s Museum of Biodiversity.
The other two organizations are the Oddities Museum in Atlanta and the Institute for Natural History Arts, run by prominent taxidermy expert George Dante in New Jersey.
