Sioux Falls to host law enforcement certification class
Local recruits won't have to spend more than three months in Pierre
The Sioux Falls Police Department will host its first law enforcement certification class at the new, state-of-the-art Public Safety Campus that opened last fall.
Typically, certification classes are hosted at the Law Enforcement Training Center in Pierre. That facility is equipped with a dorm and cafeteria for the trainees, who spend about 13 weeks getting their state certification.
But that means trainees spend a sizeable amount of time away from their families, a potential drawback to recruitment efforts.
