Sioux Falls mansion finally complete, won't be torn down
City Hall cancels demolition permits after couple finishes years-long project
A multimillion-dollar mansion in southern Sioux Falls given a stay of execution last year will not be demolished.
The 8,000-square-foot residential structure at 6800 S. Westfield Trail, the source of litigation between property owners and City Hall for a decade, is finally complete.
Contractors at the Sioux Falls property were issued an occupancy permit by the city of Sioux Falls last week, according to planning office records provided to The Dakota Scout. The milestone spares the Prairie Hills neighborhood mansion from demolition and marks the end of a years-long saga that had the project in doubt on more than one occasion.
“I’m happy,” Vitaly Strizheus said last week during a walk-through of the house he began building with his wife, Natalia, in 2013. “I’m happy we’re able to get this over with and get it done.”
