Sioux Falls' first southside pool at center of talks between council, Mayor's Office
Work group formed with goal to open new pool by 2029
City Hall isn’t coming around on building what would be the first public pool in southern Sioux Falls in the immediate future.
But councilors pushing for a city-owned aquatics facility south of 49th Street intend to start putting money toward a southside pool this year anyway.
Councilor David Barranco said he will ask his colleagues to sign off on a request to dedicate funding from this year’s budget to potential land acquisition for a southside pool. Barranco and other councilors addressed reporters Tuesday morning at City Hall.
