Sioux Falls-area elections mark final April votes in South Dakota
Results from communities like Dell Rapids, Harrisburg, Canton & Tea are in as state law phases out spring contests
The final round of April municipal elections for dozens of South Dakota communities took place Tuesday.
In the Sioux Falls area, contests were held in cities like Canton, Dell Rapids, Brandon, Tea, Harrisburg, and others, determining the makeup of city councils, mayoral offices, and the outcome of a couple of ballot measures.
However, due to a new law passed by the South Dakota Legislature earlier this year, April municipal elections will soon be a thing of the past. Beginning July 1, cities and school districts will be required to hold their elections alongside statewide primary elections in June or general elections in November.
Here's look at how some of the Sioux Falls-area contests turned out. Results are unofficial until canvassed by local election boards.

Good. This should help increase input into some of these smaller races and save tax dollars in having so many different elections.
I don't have primary and now have to go vote at a primary day? That doesnt leave much time to canvas election prior to the new school fiscal year on July 1
