Sheryl I. Batien, 74, formerly of Wolsey, SD, passed away peacefully at her current home in Brookings, SD on Saturday, April 19, 2025.Sheryl was born in Watertown, SD to James (Wayne) and Norma Hanson Law on March 11, 1951. She grew up in Naples, SD. She attended school in Naples and then attended Hazel High School. Sheryl attended Stewarts Hair Styling school in Sioux Falls, SD after high school. Thru the years, Sheryl worked as a hair stylist until moving to Wolsey, SD where she began working at Wilbrecht Electronics in Huron, SD. Then in 2000, she managed the books for Performance Seed Grain Plant in Miller, SD for 20 years prior to retirement.
Sheryl was married to Lloyd Batien in Willow Lake on July 17, 1971. They were the parents of two children, Richard of Sioux Falls, SD and Mandi of Brookings, SD.
Sheryl followed her sister, Judy’s, hobby of researching family genealogy. She loved decorating with her many collected antiques and designing new woodworking projects with her husband.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, and by her parents Wayne and Norma Law, sister Judy Duerkson, parents-in-law Floyd and Florence Batien, brothers-in-law Roger Batien and Jerry Batien. She is survived by her son Richard and daughter-in-law Nicole, grandson Nicholas, her daughter Mandi, her sisters Marlene Law Struckman [Kerry] and Carolyn Law Stolp [Jerry], brother-in-law Roger Duerksen, brother-in-law Roland Batien [Dee], sister-in-law Susan Batien, and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
