S.F. Council candidates make case to voters
Half the council to turn over, but just two seats competitive
Workforce development, crime, affordable housing, childcare – those were among the weighty topics that several candidates for Sioux Falls City Council wrestled with Thursday night.
There were no homeruns, no knockouts, no screaming or theatrics at the two-hour forum sponsored by the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce. Indeed, it was a model of civic engagement among the candidates and among about three dozen people who attended, moderator Ryan Budmayr said at the close.
“Kudos to all of you,” he said.

Still, voters could get a feel for where candidates stood on certain issues and overall philosophy of government.
Of four races, just two are competitive, with three candidates each vying for an open At-large District and the Northeast District. Northwest District candidate Jennifer Sigette and Southwest candidate Ryan Spellerberg are running unopposed.
