S.D. congressional delegation gets new details in briefing on Trump assassination attempt
Noem, Thune call for Secret Service director to leave, Rounds and Johnson stop just short
Questions surrounding how a gunman came within millimeters of assassinating Donald Trump have South Dakota’s congressional delegation distressed about the Secret Service’s effectiveness.
All three of South Dakota’s members of Congress participated in private congressional briefings on Wednesday afternoon, led by Directors Kimberly Cheatle of the Secret Service and Christopher Wray of the FBI, regarding the attack on Trump last weekend in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The briefing included the latest findings from the FBI’s investigation into gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, detailing the extensive search of Crooks’ phone and home so far, plus what authorities had so far been able to learn about his behavior and patterns of travel in the weeks and days leading up to July 13.
