This week in South Dakota history: April 25 - May 1
The Minnehaha County Courthouse was the site of a melee between protestors and authorities equipped with riot gear a half-century ago this week.
It was April 30, 1974, when a confrontation broke out during the “Custer trial,” where four defendants faced charges inside a Sioux Falls courtroom for their roles in a riot a year earlier about 350 miles west at the Custer County Courthouse.
