Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was featured this month in a campaign appearance pheasant hunt. But to observers in South Dakota, the event brought back memories of an ad that appeared in South Dakota politics 20 years ago this fall.
The ad in question featured then Sen. Tom Daschle. Daschle, the Democratic leader in the U.S. Senate, was in a hard-fought battle for re-election against current Sen. John Thune, a race the Democrat lost. An ad the Daschle campaign featured during the contest was of the senator pheasant hunting.
