Ladies and gentlemen, May brings us beef month. It’s probably lots of other months, too. Like National Typewriter Workers’ month, or something like that. But here at The Dakota Scout, we like beef. We like it for its versatility on the menu – from burgers, to meatloaf, to prime rib and everything else – and for its nutritional content of protein, vitamins and minerals. We celebrate the people who work hard in the industry to bring it to us, and we respect the animals who provide for us.

Loyal readers of this space know that Rausch Grass Finished Meat out of Onaka, South Dakota, has been one of our partners, and we thank them, as do our readers who have won beef packages from Rausch.

Not everyone eats beef – or even meat. And we at The Dakota Scout respect the non-violent choices that people make to live their lives. But with all due respect, we are partial to beef — especially a nicely seasoned mid-rare ribeye.
