Game on. The great Anglers for Veterans Fishing Tournament is set for May 17 at Lake Thompson in De Smet, South Dakota.
This tournament comes with some pretty nice payouts: $5,000 for first prize, followed by $2,500, $1,200, $800 and $500 for second through fifth. Prizes will be awarded based on the highest weighted fish in pounds and ounces caught during the competition. Each team will be allowed to catch up to eight walleyes. Six of those fish over 15 inches will be weighed, and only two longer than 20 inches will qualify for weighting.
