South Dakota governor endorses restrictions on public school bathroom access for transgender students, appeals process for challenging library books
Gov. Larry Rhoden says new laws governing obscene materials in libraries and bathroom access in public schools are a response to “woke” agendas taking root in other parts of the country.
The governor’s office announced Friday that Rhoden has given his blessing to legislation restricting bathroom access for transgender students in public schools and addressing obscene materials in public and school libraries.
“South Dakota is a place where commonsense values remain common, and these bills reinforce that fact,” Rhoden said in a statement. “These bills promote strong families, safety in education, and freedom from the ‘woke’ agenda like what has happened in too many other places.”
