Rhoden: Black Hills ‘perfect location’ for American Heroes Garden
Governor pens letter to President Trump offering western South Dakota land as home for planned memorial

If Gov. Larry Rhoden has his way, the Black Hills will be home to a national garden where the legacies of American heroes like George Washington, Harriet Tubman and Babe Ruth are honored.
The South Dakota governor’s office announced Tuesday that privately owned land near Mount Rushmore in Pennington County has been offered as a potential site for a proposed National Garden of American Heroes, an initiative that was first unveiled during a presidential visit to the monument nearly five years ago.
