Rapid City’s new mayor looking to tackle crime, growth in first term
Salamun, 45, was elected Rapid City Mayor in June.
RAPID CITY – This Black Hills city has been the home of Jason Salamun since he was 11.
“For me, my story is one that shows South Dakota is where possibility lives,” Salamun told The Dakota Scout in a recent one-on-one interview. “And Rapid City serves as a shining example.”
Originally from Lubbock, Texas, he moved to South Dakota’s second largest city in the late 1980s with his father after his parents separated.
