The public will have the final say on a new law enforcement center, including a jail, proposed for Edmunds County.
Commissioners approved a resolution concerning the center during their Dec. 19 meeting at the courthouse in Ipswich. The facility would include a 40-bed jail, the sheriff’s office and a dispatch center.

However, voters still need to sign off on the $7.4 million proposal. The vote will be March 12.
The county’s plan is to bond for the jail, which was proposed by Sheriff Jonathan Waldner. It’s more than necessary, he said.
“I don’t think we’d have any issues keeping it full and getting it paid for early,” he said in an interview with The Aberdeen Insider.
