Plans for a professional motorcycle race through downtown Sturgis during the summer bike rally have racing executives campaigning for support in the Black Hills town this week.
That’s because Sturgis voters next week will vote on a referendum on a contract entered into between the city and AMA Pro Racing, a Daytona, Florida-based race promoter hired to put on a flat track dirt bike race on Sunday, Aug. 11 — the last day of the 84th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
