Premier Center boasts best year in decade-long history of Sioux Falls event venue
More than 20,000 tickets donated to nonprofits in 2023
With several sold-out concerts, multiple shows grossing over $1 million, capacity crowds, and nearly a dozen different show promoters, the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls has posted its best financial year since opening in 2014.
Managed by third-party operator ASM Global, the 12,000-seat, city-owned Premier Center last year hosted dozen of blockbuster shows and concerts, including Jelly Roll, MercyMe with Tobymac and Zach Williams, Cody Johnson, Journey and Zach Bryan, and welcomed more than 380,000 guests.
Marking its second record-breaking year in a row, the property ended 2023 with the highest revenue and profitability in its history, surpassing 2022 margins and budget forecasts, according to ASM Global.
The company is also touting its highest in-kind donations in venue history with more than $20,000 worth of tickets donated throughout the year to nearly 70 different nonprofit organizations.

The Premier Center was also one of six venues nationwide nominated for the 2023 ACM “Arena of the Year” title.
“The team here has worked tirelessly to make this complex the leader in the region that it is today,” Premier Center general manager Mike Krewson said in a statement provided to The Dakota Scout. “We continue to raise the bar year after year, increasing our event offerings and elevating the guest experience, whether the caliber of talent or more diverse food and beverage choices.”
The Premier Center will look to keep momentum in 2024 with not just more high-profile concerts, but also hockey games for the Sioux Falls Stampede and Division 1 hockey through Augustana University’s Men’s team. Two nights of the Toughest Monster Truck Tour performances, Disturbed’s “Take Back Your Life Tour,” Dr. Jordan Peterson, Summit League Basketball Championships, and the Regional NCAA D1 Men’s Hockey Finals and Championship are also on tap this year.
