Pipeline route now slated along site of South Dakota's planned men's prison
Lincoln County landowners continuing two-front fight against projects
Lincoln County is getting hit with a double whammy when it comes to a planned pipeline and future prison site.
But now Summit Carbon Solution’s multi-billion project and the Department of Correction’s ambitions for a facility that could also top the billion dollar mark are slated to neighbor one another.
New route maps provided to Lincoln County landowners by agents of the Iowa-based carbon sequestration and obtained by The Dakota Scout show Summit’s line would abut state-owned land between Harrisburg and Canton that was chosen by DOC to be the future home of a 1500-inmate men’s prison.
Previously, the Summit’s proposed route had the pipeline running about two miles north of the planned prison. Under the new route, inmates would be housed fewer than 3,000 feet away.
