Pierre prepares for eastbound flight
The Pierre Regional Airport will be adding a flight to Minneapolis later this year
PIERRE – It has been at least 15 years since the city of Pierre had an eastbound flight departure.
But Tuesday, Pierre city commissioners confirmed that there would be a twice-a-week flight to and from Minneapolis, coming to the city before the end of the year.
“This is an exciting development for Pierre and all of central South Dakota,” said Jamie Huizenga, the Pierre city commissioner who is tasked with overseeing the airport. “We have been working towards this for a long time.”
