Sioux Falls street parking policy met with cheers and jeers
Consensus on public parking policy is again proving nearly as elusive as finding an open space along Phillips Avenue on a Friday.
Starting May 1, the city of Sioux Falls will begin enforcing parking meters on Saturdays downtown — a move officials say will increase turnover and support area businesses. But the additional day of paid parking has also touched off a swirl of chatter from retailers, restaurateurs, developers and City Council members about the merits of paid parking and how and why the decision was made.
