Noem talks priorities at state Capitol with House, Senate leaders
Lawmakers, governor say open dialogue key to working together
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and top Republican leaders hope early dialogue will bring a smooth lawmaking session when the 99th South Dakota Legislative Session convenes at the state Capitol in January.
The second-term GOP governor— whose tenure has been filled with ups and downs when it comes to legislative accomplishments — held a series of meetings this week with top officials from both the state House and Senate, including Senate Majority Leader Casey Crabtree and House Majority Leader Will Mortenson.
While declining to disclose the fine details of the talks, all three told The Dakota Scout this week that working together means keeping an open line of communication.
