Noem joins colleagues in opposing Biden administration nursing mandate
Comments on CMS rules due later this month
Gov. Kristi Noem is among 15 governors who have signed a letter in opposition to proposed staffing mandates for long-term care facilities.
The governors, all Republicans, call the proposal from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services an unfunded mandate that will worsen care for the nation’s elderly.
“If adopted, CMS’s proposed regulations will force many long-term care facilities in our communities to close, eroding access to healthcare for some of our most vulnerable citizens,” the letter says.
