New $4.5M Elmwood clubhouse coming as golf popularity surges
Younger people are taking up the sport
The number of rounds of golf played at the public courses in Sioux Falls has surged since 2018, as more people are taking up the sport, the city’s golf manager said Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in its fifth season, the sale of annual passes increased from 900 to 1,500. And this season, the courses hosted 24 corporate charity events that raised $250,000 for various charities.
Those are some of the reasons why Justin Arlt says Sioux Falls is a golf town. In 2018, there were 76,000 rounds of golf played at the city courses. That’s up to 105,000 rounds.
“The appreciation we’re seeing runs pretty deep,” said Arlt, the Sioux Falls Golf market manager.
