National Democratic party putting $70k into down-ballot South Dakota races
Funds intended to boost voter registration, turnout particularly on state's reservations
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) wants members of its party to make waves in the Rushmore State come this November.
The state Democratic party announced Tuesday morning that as part of a $2 million effort to boost down-ballot candidates in historically red states, the DNC would be sending $70,000 to South Dakota.
Those funds would be used to target races down the ticket, such as legislative contests. The funds will be used to support voter registration efforts and candidates. A significant portion of the money will be used to support registration, engagement and rides to the polls on South Dakota's Indian reservations.
