Public safety spending bulk of county's new positions in 2025
The Minnehaha County Commission will consider a $131 million budget later this month to fund services and government for 2025.
That amount would be about $38 million less than the current year’s budget. The main difference between the 2024 and 2025 budgets is that the entire financing for a new Minnehaha County Juvenile Justice Center was included in the current budget, even though the project won’t be completed this year, said Susan Beaman, the county’s budget and finance officer.
“There were quite a bit of dollars related to that,” Beaman said. The county is spending up to $50 million on the project.
