Lawmaker supportive of governor-backed DOC project says vote to block funding debate was in error
PIERRE — Friday’s rejection of a prison funding proposal by the South Dakota House will stand — for now.
After narrowly killing a spending package last week to put another $148.1 million into a fund to pay for the construction of a new men’s correctional facility, lawmakers in the state House on Monday were again split — this time, voting 35-35 on a motion that sought to force the reconsideration of House Bill 1025.
