Sheriff Mike Blom not ruling out another run for office in 2026
A longtime Democratic Sheriff from a south central South Dakota county is calling it quits after an investigation by a state board stripped him of his law enforcement certification.
But former Sheriff Mike Blom isn’t ruling out regaining his certification and returning to the office he had occupied since 2014 when the term he won two years ago expires in 2026.
The now former sheriff of Mellette County told The Dakota Scout Monday that while he made his retirement official earlier this month, disappointment from his constituents with the Attorney General Office’s Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission has him looking at making a comeback.
