Libertarians affirm PUC candidate, tab trio of state legislative candidates
Third party maintains cannabis support, will oppose Open Primaries
Libertarians are sitting out South Dakota’s 2024 Congressional election, but instead focusing on supporting a host of legislative candidates and maintaining the party’s long-held pro-cannabis positions.
The Libertarian Party of South Dakota (LPSD) on Saturday, during its annual convention in Pierre, opted not to nominate any candidate to challenge incumbent GOP Congressman Dusty Johnson. However, party delegates did put their support behind an initiated measure to legalize cannabis for adult use in South Dakota while also drawing their opposition to a proposal to overhaul the state’s political primary election system.
