Summit also promised early on they would only secure voluntary easements from land owners . Today they dragged hundreds of land owners into court through imminent domain . Another promise not kept .
These pipelines are about a few making a huge profit. Public Health and safety needs to be addressed as well as property rights. Please No eminent domain for private gain.
If this Co2 pipeline project is so great why won't Dan Lederman, paid lobbyists for Summit Carbon Solution (SCS), agree to a forum to share pipeline information with the general public? Dan has been invited but has not agreed to participat in a forum.
Why doesn't Summit Carbon Solutions want public forums, which would allow proponents and opponents to share their views?
In the Q&A section in Summit's website there is a question posed "Is the project safe? Will it be safe to those who will live near the pipeline?".
A. (in part) "The D.O.T. regulates pipelines that are used to transport carbon dioxide and there have been no major safety incidents ater decades o use".
Management and P.R. people should research two things:
1 - pipeline explosion, Satartia, MS (Feb. 2020)
2 - definition of a 'decade'.
A second question posed from our northern neighbors express concerns about possible earthquakes to which Summit responds in part "...the company is preparing seismic activity studies to model different scenarios and the best way to respond to each one".
EXCUSE ME............."IS PREPARING"?????
This answer alone should give serious concern to our P.U.C. who we ELECTED to the positions they hold, with the exception of Mr. Haeder, who was appointed to temporarily replace Commissioner . Fiegen who rightfully recused herself.
If this governor gave a rat's patoot about her fellow ranchers and farmers on this issue, she'd be all over it the way she was all over getting the previous attorney general removed from office.
