Legislature to focus on AI, property taxes, Ellsworth over summer
Leadership lands on three different summer study topics
PIERRE — Future legislation on artificial intelligence (AI), the state’s property tax formula, and improvements around Ellsworth Air Force Base could start with work undertaken by the Legislature this summer.
Lawmakers on the Executive Board committee Tuesday agreed to delve into those three topics, chosen over 20 others proposed by their peers.
All three topics were features of the 2024 lawmaking session, and generated enough support from members to be selected as the summer study subjects.

“These are interwoven and novel topics,” said House Majority Leader Will Mortenson. “We saw a few pieces of legislation brought in these areas that members thought were worthy of consideration. It’s important that we not shoot and miss with ideas like this.”
