Large-scale art piece to bookend downtown Sioux Falls sculpture route
Washington Pavilion project to compliment Arc of Dreams, SculptureWalk
A series of illuminated pillars planned outside of the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls will bring the city’s already-esteemed downtown art scene to a new level.
That’s how a $400,000 investment to the exterior of the museum, auditorium and concern hall in southern downtown is being touted by Pavilion President and CEO Darrin Smith, who recently unveiled the organization’s plans to bolster the repurposed high school’s aesthetics and general visitor appeal.

“We’re just really excited because it’s going to be iconic, it’ll be interactive and it’ll beautify the property,” Smith said during a briefing in front of Sioux Falls City Councilors last week.
Following his remarks to the Council, Smith told The Dakota Scout between 10 to 12 pillars resembling Roman Corinthian columns will stretch the northeast corner of the Washington Pavilion campus.
